Tetanus is a serious , life threatening illness caused by bacteria getting into a wound. You should ensure that you are up to date with your vaccinations before you travel. Tetanus vaccinations are recommended for almost every country worldwide, and vaccination should be considered if you’re going to an area where you will find difficulty in accessing medical help quickly, and/or your last vaccination was more than 10 years ago.
Vaccination
The vaccination for Tetanus is administered as a single dose and lasts for around 10 years. It comes as a combination injection including vaccination against Diphtheria and Polio as well.
Any aspects of the risk factors and around the vaccination itself can be discussed during your appointment.
